How we test software before your customers do

There are two ways to find a bug: in a test pass before release, or in a phone call from your client at 7 a.m. The entire discipline of quality assurance exists to make sure it’s the first one. Here’s what testing actually looks like inside our periodic-release process — and why we treat quality as the whole strategy, not a checkbox at the end.

Testing starts before the code does

The best test cases are written from the requirement document, not the finished screen. During discovery we already know what “working” means for each feature — the wireframes and requirements both sides signed off become the checklist the release is measured against. If a behavior isn’t in the requirement, that’s a conversation, not a surprise.

Every release runs the gauntlet

We ship in periodic releases, and each one goes through the same passes: the new features against their requirements, the payment-and-data paths that must never break, and a regression sweep of everything that worked last release. In our warehouse work that means scanning a real barcode with a real ring scanner and printing a real label — hardware integration doesn’t get to hide behind an emulator.

The client is part of the test team

Because releases are periodic, your team reviews working software throughout the build. The people who will use the system daily click through it while changes are still cheap. Some of the best catches in our warehouse system came from the floor team, not from us — which is exactly how it should work.

Rework costs three things: money, schedule, and trust. A found-early bug costs one test cycle. Quality first is simply the cheaper way to build.

What this means for your project

Ask any vendor two questions: what do you test against, and when do I get to try it? If the answers aren’t “the requirement we agreed on” and “every release,” the bugs are being scheduled for after launch — on your calendar.

Quality is the whole strategy
